Gin and Tonic classic recipe

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Gin and tonic is one of my favourite cocktails and is one of the most easiest to make. Below is my recipe.

  • 2 msr of Gin, this is the important part and I would recommend a good quality gin like Bombay Sapphire, Gordon’s or Hendrick’s.
  • 5 msr of tonic water.
  • Slice of lemon.

Add the gin to a collins glass, add ice and top up with the tonic water, then add a slice of lemon.

Mojito with Sage

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

We recently purchased some herb plants for the garden and to use in cooking. Two of the herbs we bought were mint and sage. The other night I decided to make a Mojito with the mint from the garden, I also thought about adding some sage because I had had a Mojito with sage in a cocktail bar in Manchester. Below is the recipe I created:

  •  2.5 msr white rum
  • 1 large mint leaf, 2 if they are small
  • 1 sage leaf
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 0.5 msr sugar syrup
  • 3 msr lemonade

Crush the mint and sage in a cocktail shaker then add the rum, lime and sugar syrup and shake. Add ice to a glass and strain the contents of the shaker into the glass and top up with the lemonade.I really enjoyed this cocktail and will be serving it at the next party we have.
